My husband and I are trying to have a baby. We are wanting to have a little
girl. Is there a special way we can make love to make our odds of having a
little girl more outstanding? Some people say there is a special position you
can have sex in that would help your odds. Please let me know if this is true.

Although there are many myths about ways to increase your chances of having a
boy or girl, none of them have any truth to them. The reality is that the sex
of the baby is determined entirely by the man's sperm. Some sperm carry a Y
chromosome, others an X (the woman's egg is always an X). If the sperm that
unites with the egg is a Y then the child will be a male; if it is an X then
the child will be female.
There is absolutely nothing that you can do to naturally influence which sperm
will reach the egg. There have been some promising studies looking at ways of
increasing the odds of having a male child via artificial insemination, though
none have been very successful in increasing the odds of having a female child.
These procedures are also extremely expensive and unreliable. The main reason
they are done is if the parents have a sex-linked genetic condition that they
want to avoid passing onto their child.
So, my best advice to you is to try not to worry about it. Hope for the best,
but know that any child can be a great gift regardless of biological sex.
