I've read you recommend sex toys, but aren't they really only for lonely,
desperate people without partners or imagination?

Are salt and spices only for those without taste buds? Are CD players only for
people who can't hum? It is natural to want to enhance things that we enjoy.
And, it is common to use technology to improve many things that we were not able
to in the past. Sex is no different. Perhaps you are one of those who believe
that sex is a "natural" act that should not be modified in any way.
Well, so is eating, yet I bet you occasionally use ketchup and silverware!
If you don't want to use sex toys, or would rather just use "natural"
sex toys like lingerie or lubricant, that is totally fine. No one is going to
force you to do otherwise. But, it is absolutely not true that only those
without partners or those who "need help" use them. In a number of
studies, it was estimated that over fifty million Americans have used, or
would like to use, a sex toy during sex. That makes it a pretty mainstream
phenomenon if you ask me.
