I have been taking the Pill on the 28-day pack; my doctor recently prescribed
the 21-pill pack for me and I'm not sure what the difference is. During the
seven days that I am supposed to go without pills can I have unprotected sex?
Please help me!!!

The only difference between the 21-day pack and the 28-day pack is that the
28-day pack has an extra week of pills that contain nothing but sugar (and
maybe some iron). The only real purpose of having those extra seven pills in
there is so that you don't get out of the habit of taking a pill every day.
Of course, if your old 28-day pack had extra iron in the pills, it might not
be a bad idea to keep up the practice of taking extra iron while you are
menstruating, so that you don't become anemic.
You are just as well protected for the entire month, whichever type of pill you
are taking. Just make sure to mark down carefully what day you took the last
pill and what day you have to start up again, now that you won't have those
extra pills to help you keep track.
