My husband and I had intercourse using a Trojan Pleasure Mesh condom. I noticed
on the package that it said Caution: this product contains natural rubber
latex which may cause allergic reaction. Is this some kind of weird new
material and should I be worried? What does this mean?

Natural rubber latex is just a fancy way of saying latex
-- the material from which almost all condoms are made. I guess they threw in the
word natural to make people feel better. This is just a plain old
condom; no fancy, weird material here. However, it is true that some people have
an allergy or sensitivity to latex. This was rarely mentioned on the packaging
in the past.
If you have never had problems previously, you should not have any with these
condoms either. On the other hand, if you have experienced pain, redness, itching,
or other forms of irritation following condom usage, you might want to consider
the possibility that you have a latex sensitivity. Although rare, it does occur;
and in these cases, I recommend trying a non-latex condom such as Avanti.
Although they may not be as effective at preventing the transmission of certain
STDs, they might be your best option if you are allergic to latex.
