What exactly are ben wa balls and how are they used?

"Ben Wa Balls" is the term used to refer to a special type of sex toy. Although there are many variations, at the most basic, they are a pair of small balls designed to be inserted into the vagina. The balls are usually hollow and have something else inside which can roll around, creating vibrations. If you have ever seen those Chinese hand exercisers, you have some idea what these balls are like, only smaller.
