I met a guy who said he is into "Reichian sex." I don't know whether to be scared or excited.
What is that? Some sort of Nazi-era sexual technique?

Wow, I didn't know there were any Reichians still out there! Strictly speaking, there is no such thing as
"Reichian sex". More accurately, it is sometimes known as "bioenergetic sex" but it is
all a little odd, no matter how you say it.
Wilhelm Reich was a psychoanalyst and friend of Freud's who believed that sex was the primary motivational
force for all people. He also believed in a mysterious substance he called "orgone" that was supposedly
an energy field which surrounded and bound all living things together (sort of like "The Force,"
decades before "Star Wars"). He also wrote a series of books entitled, "The Function of the Orgasm"
which claimed that having
proper orgasms, i.e., the "right" way, would prevent disease and cure mental illness. Reich had
some truly amazing
discoveries that turned out to be true; however, he also believed that UFOs were abducting his dog!
Reichian sex is really no different from "normal" sex, it simply strives to be more intense.
Basically,
practitioners attempt to do a full release of all body and psychological tension during orgasm.
At worst,
it is harmless. At best, it is a lot of fun. As far as curing disease ... well, uh ... Reich died in prison
at a fairly young age from a heart attack.
