Q and A with Dr Linda Mona

Question

I am 24 years old and I have spina bifida. I have a very small penis and not much feeling. Is this common with men who have spina bifida? What can I do?

Answer

Unfortunately, lack of sensation is very common with men with spina bifida, depending upon the extent of the disability.

Average penis size is 4.5 to 5.5 inches, although individuals do vary. Many times, penis size can be small because of atrophy of that muscle. Many men find that if they massage and masturbate more often, they can sometimes get a bit more size.

Some men look into using penis pumps to help them achieve and maintain an erection, while others use prosthetic extenders to enjoy partner intercourse.
