About the MyPleasure Staff
At MyPleasure, a large part of our success is our staff. We hire only the best and the brightest, and as a result, we have a smart, dedicated, experienced team. We come from diverse backgrounds and bring a range of skills and experience, but we do have one thing in common: We're always on the lookout for ways to improve our customers' experience and promote the ideal of healthy sexuality. Here are some of the people who help set MyPleasure apart from the competition.
Dr. Sandor Gardos, Founder & CEO
A licensed clinical psychologist and sex therapist, as well as a board-certified sexologist, Dr. Gardos is MyPleasure's founding member and currently serves as its CEO. Dr. Gardos is a former Fellow at the College of Physicians and Surgeons at Columbia University, and a research scientist at the New York City-based HIV Center for Clinical and Behavioral Studies. Dr. Gardos not only sets the strategy and vision for MyPleasure, but also ensures our sensual products are of the highest quality and that our customers are provided with the most updated sexual information and relevant advice.
He has served in various capacities for the American Association of Sex Educators, Counselors, and Therapists and the Society for the Scientific Study of Sexuality. In his clinical practice (both private and hospital-based), Dr. Gardos has seen thousands of patients, with concerns that run the gamut of human sexual experience, both clinical and emotional. In addition to being published in leading journals in the fields of clinical psychology and sex therapy, he has been a regular columnist for WebMD, Yahoo!, AOL, About, MSN, and Match.com.
Amy E. Levinson, Senior Advisor and Board Member
Ms. Levinson brings more than 25 years of extensive direct mail marketing experience to MyPleasure. Before joining MyPleasure, Ms. Levinson worked for a highly respected San Francisco-based adult pleasures catalog company. As Vice President of Marketing, she undertook the creative and strategic vision of the company and successfully developed their enterprise level e-commerce. After 12 years at the helm and nearly tripling gross sales, Ms. Levinson left to become a founding member of MyPleasure.
With her extensive marketing experience, her contacts within the industry, and her dedication to the success of the company, Ms. Levinson is a valuable member of MyPleasure’s team.
Garnet Joyce, Buyer & Social Media Guru
A sex educator and blogger, Garnet is a web savvy sex toy geek with a passion for quality and community. At MyPleasure, Garnet scours the world for the best sex toys available, plans marketing campaigns, writes and edits the MyPleasure blog, mans Facebook and Twitter, and runs the reviewer program.
Outside of MyPleasure she occasionally teaches workshops on sexuality, relationships, and gender and blogs for several different websites including her own. Previously, Garnet worked as a sex educator at Chicago’s first feminist sex shop, Early to Bed, for 2.5 years. She has also logged over 100 hours of volunteer work with Planned Parenthood and has some history working in the alternative porn world.
Garnet earned her BA double majoring in Psychology and Gender and Women’s Studies at the University of Illinois at Chicago where she had the opportunity to study the history of human sexuality in America under the wing of a famous sexuality historian.
A recent San Francisco Bay Area transplant, Garnet moved from Chicago with her wife and two cats and is enjoying the weather immensely.
Misty Smith, Customer Service Manager & Educator
A sex educator with a passion for technology, Misty has devoted the past five years to creating safe spaces for people to talk about sexuality and relationships through workshops, online communities, and one-on-one counseling. She earned her BA at the University of California, Berkeley where she coordinated the campus Sexual Health Education Program and facilitated peer-led courses in Human Sexuality.
At MyPleasure, she brings her sex ed savvy to the adult retail industry by helping customers choose the perfect products to meet their needs as well as making sure the Education section is updated with the most current and accurate information.
Outside of MyPleasure, Misty volunteers with San Francisco Sex Information and continues to lead workshops on sexual health and pleasure for a sexually and culturally diverse community.
